metalweb invests in the future with apprentices

Craig and David metalweb apprentice press release smallmetalweb has committed itself to the development of young people by hiring a new IT apprentice as the first step in a larger apprenticeship programme.

Craig Partridge has been welcomed to metalweb’s IT department as its first ever office based apprentice. This appointment supports metalweb’s culture of nurturing young talent, helping them get into the workplace so that they can gain valuable skills through on-the-job training.

Craig joins metalweb straight from college, where he studied a number of AS levels.  Craig will continue to study towards a Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals and a Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles whilst working at metalweb.

David Vile, IT Manager, metalweb said:

The IT department is going through a lot of exciting change, so this is a great time for us to expand the team. There are always plenty of new projects to get stuck into to so our department is the perfect place for Craig to gain valuable experience.  As a business we believe, that younger people should be given the opportunity to work, learn, progress and turn their apprenticeship experience into a successful career.”

Craig Partridge, IT Apprentice, metalweb said: “The opportunity to work whilst studying is just what I wanted. Once I began my AS levels, I soon realised that it wasn’t the right route for me and that vocational education would be much better suited. Even going to university doesn’t always guarantee a job, so it was really important for me to enter the workplace so that I could start to gain practical skills. If I had continued on at college I may have got A-levels but no work experience, however, now I will have the best of both worlds.

metalweb is now committed to take on other apprentices across the business to meet its personnel requirements in 2014 and beyond.
